ABOUT ME
I am in my final year at Wake Forest Baptist's Nurse Anesthesia Program (phew!!), and let me tell you..... it did not come without a million challenges! The summer prior to starting school, I quit my job as a nurse (our only income) and moved our family from Arizona to North Carolina, so that I could start Nurse Anesthesia school. Picture this: 5 days of driving across the country; husband driving the U-haul (without cruise control) while towing his car; I am diving behind him with the 4-Runner full of a 5 year old a 6 year old, a 90 lb yellow lab, and hopefully enough snacks, games, books, and movies (and chew toys) to keep them entertained for a few hours. And that was just the beginning....
HOWEVER, I survived the first year of school!! Not only have I tackled the challenges of long hours, endless studying, clinical rotations and all that goes along with that.....but I am working out several days a week, running, survived flu season, continued to eat healthy (in moderation), enjoyed and maintained a semi-active social life as well (Happy Hour!). ALSO, my kids are very happy, active, and supportive of my schooling; we have a great place to live, kept food on the table, and time for Breaking Bad and House of Cards with the hubby.
I have not been able to make every soccer game or piano lesson, have not become close with my kids' teachers, and have not organized many (or any) play-dates. I'm surprised my husband and I aren't on Dr. Phil yet, and shocked I haven't gained 20 lbs the first semester of school. I learned what "true anxiety" feels like and honestly don't feel human most days. But I have SURVIVED and hopefully can help others do the same....
I am now the Student Representative for the Health and Wellness Committee of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists for the fiscal year of 2015, I am here to connect nurse anesthetist students all across the country through the enhancement of mental and physical wellness.
I am by no means an expert!!! ButI try to keep it simple......do little, easy things to LIVE HEALTHY and BE HAPPY!!!!
.....and the rest will fall into place :)
